Advocating for Gender and Reproductive Health

Over a five year span, JICA supported ZENID in implementing an annual regional workshop that aims to address gender disparities, reproductive health issues and advocating for change through the involvement and mobilization of different sectors.

ZENID'S ROLE

Annually, (2002-2006), ZENID conducts a 14-day regional workshop with participants from 12 Arab countries to enhance their gender analytical skills and enhance the capabilities of practitioners in mainstreaming gender in project planning and implementation. Specifically, these trainings enable development and health practitioners in key institutions within the Arab region, to undertake the task of facilitating and leading the process of change by cultivating teams of gender and RH resources developed to support both women and men, who are currently working in the field of training related to gender, reproductive health and advocacy. Each year, over 25 participants attend the training and result in a growing Gender, RH and advocacy regional network that allows them to exchange ideas and lessons learnt and engage in dialogue.
