Enhancing self-empowerment of rural women in Kerak, with
a reproductive health focus
Implemented in kerak Governorate,the
project aims to contribute towards national efforts and the advancement
of women with a gender dimension (equality/equity) in Jordan,
by enhancing women's self-empowerment and knowledge on reproductive
health. Implemented in cooperation with the Japanese International
Cooperation Agency (JICA), the three years project addresses gender
disparities, reproductive health issues and advocating for change
through the involvement and mobilization of different sectors.
ZENID established the Community
Support Team in Karak who have been trained on various skills
needed to mobilise community members with a focus on gender and
reproductive health. ZENID Works closely with the local community,
especially the Community Support Team and the facilitators in
the field, to raise awareness for both men and women on reproductive
health and women's self empowerment.
Additionally, through the project
ZENID encourages members of the local community, to adopt positive
healthy behaviours towards gender and reproductive health. At
the same time, the project encourages women to participate in
the decision-making process through income generating activities.
