Enhancing self-empowerment of rural women in Kerak, with a reproductive health focus

Implemented in kerak Governorate,the project aims to contribute towards national efforts and the advancement of women with a gender dimension (equality/equity) in Jordan, by enhancing women's self-empowerment and knowledge on reproductive health. Implemented in cooperation with the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the three years project addresses gender disparities, reproductive health issues and advocating for change through the involvement and mobilization of different sectors.

ZENID'S ROLE

ZENID established the Community Support Team in Karak who have been trained on various skills needed to mobilise community members with a focus on gender and reproductive health. ZENID Works closely with the local community, especially the Community Support Team and the facilitators in the field, to raise awareness for both men and women on reproductive health and women's self empowerment.

Additionally, through the project ZENID encourages members of the local community, to adopt positive healthy behaviours towards gender and reproductive health. At the same time, the project encourages women to participate in the decision-making process through income generating activities.
